Unicollege was founded in 1975 in Mantua, northern Italy, as an international high school specializing in foreign languages. In 1988, it became the first accredited institution in the area to grant advanced diplomas in interpreting and translation.
In 2003, it was officially accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education and joined the “Scuole Superiori per Mediatori Linguistici” network. This is the official consortium of university institutions accredited by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, specializing in applied languages.
As a result, Unicollege is one of Italy’s oldest international institutions dedicated to education in applied languages, translation, and interpreting, while continuously expanding its university programs and curricula.Its unique academic identity (see the dedicated section) led to the successful opening of two additional prestigious campuses: Florence (2018) and Turin (2022). This expansion confirms both the visionary foresight of its founders and Unicollege’s national prestige and academic excellence, as demonstrated by its renowned international faculty.
Beyond its national growth, Unicollege has been actively expanding its global network, forging strong partnerships across four continents.
It has established bilateral agreements with universities in over 20 countries, fostering a dynamic exchange of intellectual and human resources.
