First Foreign Language
A B1 entry-level proficiency is required.
Second and Third Foreign Language
Your second foreign language can be chosen from either European or Asian languages:
– If you choose a European language (English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish), you must have prior knowledge of the language.
– If you choose an Asian language (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian), you may start as a complete beginner (A0) or with prior knowledge.
Students who studied only one foreign language in high school may enroll by selecting Spanish or French as their second language, with the commitment to attend a free four-week intensive course starting in September.
Third Language (optional)
In addition to their degree languages, Unicollege students can learn a third optional language. The Unicollege Language Center offers both group and individual courses, available from beginner to advanced levels, in the following languages:
– Beginner Level (A0): Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Portuguese, Russian.
– Elementary/Intermediate Level (A2/B1): Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Russian
– Intermediate Level (B1): English, French, German, Italian.
Learning a language is a matter of technique, and Unicollege will teach you how to master it like no other, through professionalizing and applied techniques.
Translation
You will develop skills to translate written texts both from and to the chosen languages.
Consecutive Interpreting
You will learn a specialized note-taking technique that enables you to orally translate a speech immediately after hearing it.
Liaison Interpreting
This technique will prepare you to mediate between two speakers of different languages in meetings, business trips, or company visits—without the use of technical aids.
Simultaneous Interpreting (optional)
By enrolling in specialized workshop that utilize soundproof interpretation booths, you will learn to translate and reproduce foreign language speeches in real-time.
