University Canteens

Unicollege is partnered with the university canteen system in Florence. Unicollege students can therefore access university canteens across the city by showing their personal university badge issued by DSU Toscana – upon submitting an ID + proof of enrollment at Unicollege here:

Valù Bakery & Cakes

Located at Viale Filippo Strozzi 10 rosso (opposite the Fortezza), Valù Bakery & Cakes is an Anglo-American and Northern European-inspired cake shop and bakery. Their menu features classic British recipes reimagined with the flavors of traditional Italian pastry-making. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, making it a perfect spot for both a quick break and a longer pause. Unicollege students receive a 10% discount.

Forno Pugi

No visit to Florence is complete without tasting a slice of schiacciata from Forno Pugi, a historic Florentine bakery specializing in bread, schiacciata, cakes, and cookies. Alimentari Flavia

At the beginning of Via Bolognese, you’ll find Alimentari Anna e Flavia, a small grocery store offering fresh vegetables, pasta, bread, and essential goods. The store is well-stocked with a selection of cured meats, cheeses, and ready-to-eat meals like farro salads, chicken dishes, and seasonal specialties. Unicaffè
Unicaffè is the gathering space for the university community at the Florence campus.

Located on the ground floor of the campus, it offers a café and cold meal service with a daily changing menu and always fresh products, which can be enjoyed at both indoor and outdoor seating areas.

Horticultural Garden and Parnassus Gardens

Located just a few meters from the Unicollege campus, the Giardino dell’Orticoltura is an elegant green space featuring a magnificent tepidarium, built in the second half of the 19th century by architect Giacomo Roster to host the first national horticulture exhibition.

From the Giardino dell’Orticoltura, a pedestrian passage leads to the Orti del Parnaso, a small green area adorned with a distinctive fountain in the shape of a serpent or dragon, which winds its way up a staircase leading to a stunning panoramic terrace.

Villa Demidoff

Located in the heart of the Medici Park of Pratolino, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013, Villa Demidoff was built between 1874 and 1876 by commission of the noble Russian Demidoff family, on the site where the Medici Paggeria of Pratolino once stood.

The park is easily accessible from the Unicollege campus via bus line 25 and is open with free entry from April to October, every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore

The Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore, a symbol of Florence worldwide, offers a comprehensive museum experience. With a single Pass, visitors can access multiple monuments, valid for three days from the selected visit date.

The Brunelleschi Pass includes entry to the Baptistery of San Giovanni, Giotto’s Bell Tower, Brunelleschi’s Dome, the Opera del Duomo Museum, and the ancient Basilica of Santa Reparata.

Uffizi Galleries

Among the most significant museum complexes in Florence, the Uffizi Galleries are a must-visit. They encompass the Uffizi, the Vasari Corridor, Palazzo Pitti with the newly designed Museum of Fashion, and the Boboli Gardens, where Nature, Art, Science, and Alchemy come together.

Stibbert Museum

Located about a 15-minute walk from the Unicollege campus, the Stibbert Museum was founded by the English patron Frederick Stibbert, who, upon his passing in 1906, decided to donate his collection of weapons, armor, costumes, and artworks to the city of Florence.

The museum is open for visits Monday to Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Friday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Fortezza da Basso

A masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, built between 1534 and 1536 at the request of Alessandro de’ Medici, the Fortezza da Basso has been home to Florence’s exhibition and congress center since 1967. It hosts conferences, concerts, and major national and international events, including Pitti Immagine and Pitti Uomo.

The fortress is located about a 15-minute walk from the Unicollege campus.

Cultural Events

Among the must-see events in Florence, Pitti Immagine is undoubtedly the most prestigious in the fashion industry. Since the 1950s, it has been an international showcase of Made in Italy excellence. Event dates and schedules can be found on the official website.

Another historic highlight of Florence’s cultural scene is the Festival dei Popoli,

a leading documentary film festival. With over sixty editions, it has introduced audiences to the works of some of the most influential filmmakers in the genre. The festival takes place every November at Cinema La Compagnia in Florence.

Florence’s cultural life is rich and diverse, featuring international festivals like Middle East Now, as well as concerts and food and wine events throughout the year.
